Hong Kong設計業的發展至今已有四十多年曆史，政府在2002年成立香港設計中心，2004年推出設計之優等一系列計劃，並在財政預算中撥款2.5億港幣用于至2010年期間推廣香港設計業。設計業對香港的整體市場發展起到積極的作用，香港設計師具有多元文化的特質，這同香港社會結構有關。香港有許多富有才華的設計師，在業界影響極大，而且擁有相當高的國際知名度。
Hong Kong's design industry development has been forty years of history, the government was established in 2002, Hong Kong design center, 2004 launched a series of design awards program and financial budgeted for hk $250 million by 2010 period to promote Hong Kong design industry. Design of Hong Kong's total market development will play a positive role, Hong Kong designer mini-cultures that trait that related with Hong Kong social structure. Hong Kong has many talented designers, in the industry has great influence, and it has very high international reputation.
HKIDA由香港特別行政區政府授權成立，是以亞太地區室內設計師爲主體的非營利性國際化組織。主要以調研、競賽、策劃、出版、學術交流爲平台，其使命是爲行業內會員提供優質服務，喚起公衆參與、互惠互利、共同發展的意識。
HKIDA by the Hong Kong special administrative region government authorized the establishment in the asia-pacific region, interior designers, as the main body of the non-profit organization internationalization. Mainly research, contests, planning, publishing, academic exchange platform, its mission is to provide high quality service members within the industry, arousing the public participation, mutual benefit and common development of consciousness.
